Plant-based Nutrition: Special Considerations For Women

workshop for healthcare pros

Plant-based eating is a growing trend among women. It's estimated that 59% of people who switch to a plant-based diet identify as women. Yet, nutrition guidance that specifically considers women's unique needs throughout the lifestyle is lacking. Women are the primary targets of dangerous fad diet messaging, which often overlaps with plant-based eating trends. Plant-based foods offer many health benefits to women, as long as they are incorporated into a balanced eating pattern that takes into consideration women's unique needs. In this presentation, you will review the current state of women’s health and their nutrition status, learn what a healthy plant-based dietary pattern looks like for women, and discuss specific nutrient needs unique to women at various stages of the life cycle.
