I remember the first time I tried to cut a pomegranate for Pomegranate Guacamole. Let’s just say, it didn’t go so well. I was at my sister’s house. I pulled out the cutting board and ignorantly sliced into it like I was cutting an orange. Oops! Ruby red juice splattered everywhere, and the cutting board was permanently stained bright pink. Luckily, there is a simple, mess-free way to peel a pomegranate! Don’t make the same mistake I did! Use this 3 step method to peel a pomegranate like a pro, and then make this incredible Pomegranate Guacamole.
How To Peel a Pomegranate (Mess-free!)
In 3 easy steps, peel a pomegranate like a pro! If you want to follow along as a demonstrate how to peel a pomegranate and how to make Pomegranate Guacamole, watch this video!
STEP 1: Score The Pomegranate
Quarter the pomegranate by carefully scoring the peel with a knife all the way around in both directions, being careful not to cut all the way through into the seeds. Twist it apart to break it into quarters.
STEP 2: Separate The Seeds In Water
Fill a bowl with water. Submerge the pomegranate quarters into the water and separate the seeds from the white pulp and skin. The pulp will float, the seeds will sink.
STEP 3: Skim and Drain
Skim the floating white pulp off the top of the water. Drain seeds in a colander.
Now what do you do with those sweet little seeds? You make Pomegranate Guacamole, of course.
